Senior R&D Engineer (f/m/x) Product Development & Maintenance
Passive Implants / Structural Heart / Interventional Cardiology Central Germany (hybrid work partially possible)

The Company:

We are representing a globally active medical device manufacturer, which was founded and is still headquartered in Germany. The mission is to bring the development, production and sales of innovative, passive implant systems within the interventional cardiology to the next level. With roughly 350 employees from 40 different nations globally and 120 of those in Germany, the team is working continuously for over two decades to develop new products (passive implants of risk class III) in the structural heart field. Those products are designed to provide patients with a significant improvement in quality of life, who are beyond established treatments. They follow a quality strategy and want to increase their R&D efforts as new products are coming online. The company is already active in roughly 90 markets and about to enter the US market - partially with first-in-class products. We are aiming to increase the expertise in the existing R&D teams by recruiting Senior Engineers. The goal is to enable the R&D department to shoulder bigger innovation projects, while reducing the time to market through the engineers expertise e.g. in the design phase, their understanding of cardiology or their scientific network.

The Position:

• Develops the global and cross-functional SOP ecosystem in R&D to ensure an agile and engineer-driven R&D process for passive implants in interventional cardiology
• Works project based over the whole R&D cycle and focuses on setting the younger team members on track with the the design & product development expertise
• Manages the projects to translate the customer value propositions in technical unique selling propositions - in time, in budget and in quality
• Leads and participates in R&D projects and ensures the close cooperation with product management, regulatory affairs, quality management, production etc.
• Should always challenge the status quo of R&D processes, products, technologies and therapies to drive the respective innovation
• Takes responsibility that products meet performance and safety requirements while addressing customer needs and improving patient outcomes
• Reports into the Product Development & Maintenance Lead as his Deputy as well as project based into the Executive Vice President R&D to ensure alignment of the projects to the R&D strategy
• Provides technical leadership and works closely with the R&D management to identify and to capitalize on upcoming technologies and therapies

Your Profile:

• Experienced in R&D projects within the medical device industry and here especially in an international environment with a passive implant
• Bachelor degree or equal in medical, engineering, technical or scientific discipline or related area and experience
• Excellent communicator with proven success in a similar role including successful projects over the whole R&D cycle
• High design and product development expertise - ideally with experience in improving SOPs in R&D related processes
• Creative mentor with an out of box mindset, interested in new technologies, trends and people
• Excellent technical understanding
• Ownership mindset
• Interested to work with other cultures, sensitivity to cultural differences and able to facilitate them (team work with globally distributed development teams and high profile partners)
• Fluent in English. German or other languages are a plus, but not necessary
