The Company:

We are representing a globally active medical device manufacturer, that was founded and is still headquartered in Germany. The mission is to bring the development, production and sales of innovative implant systems within the interventional cardiology to the next level. With roughly 250 employees globally and 110 of those in Germany, the team works continuously for two decades to develop new products. Those products are designed to provide patients with a significant improve in quality of life, who are beyond established treatments. They follow a quality strategy and aim to increase the management team in both global R&D sites to continue the successful first-in class development stream of products. We are therefore searching for the Head of R&D / R&D Site Manager for the german site, where the headquarters are located.

The Position:

• Defines and executes the interventional cardiology vision and product strategy - drives innovational projects in international environments
• Works closely with other areas of the organization (e.g. the Regulatory Affairs & Quality Management, Production, Clinical Affairs, Marketing etc.)
• Leads and develops the R & D team on-site with focus on further design, development and implementation of new products - in time, in budget and in quality
• Should always challenge the status quo of products and drive the respective innovation to gather further market shares
• Takes responsibility that developed products meet performance and safety requirements
• Coordination with R&D Manager from other site to ensure alignment of the overall strategy
• Collaboration with product management and marketing teams of own and other business units to define and set up plans & projects
• Provides technical leadership and works closely with the management to identify and to capitalize on upcoming opportunities

Your Profile:

• Experienced in R&D within the medical device industry, preferred in an international environment with a comparable risk class of IIb or higher
• Bachelor degree or equal in engineering, technical/ scientific discipline or related area/ equivalent background and experience
• Excellent communicator, excellent team manager - leadership character with proven success in such a role
• Creative thinker, out of box, interested in new technologies and trends
• Excellent technical understanding
• Flexible, ethic personality
• Ownership mindset
• Interested to work with other cultures, sensitivity to cultural differences and able to facilitate them (team work with globally distributed development teams and high profile partners)
• Fluent in English. German is a plus, but not necessary
